Between two worlds

Joanna Jimbuku is a nurse in North Australia.
Her boss is Bob Mills. He is a Flying Doctor.
One day a mother, her name is Jane, calls and says that her baby is very ill. Bob and Joanna fly to Jane and the baby.
When Bob looks at baby Mary, he sees that she is very ill at her heart. Joanna and Bob take the baby to the hospital in Sydney. Jane cannot come with them because she has got six other children.
While Mary is in hospital, Joanna stays at doctor Griffin’s house.
A few days later Mary is okay again.
Doctor Griffin asks Joanna if she wants to work in the hospital. Joanna is very surprised. She needs time to think about it. In a shop window in Sydney Joanna sees a painting. It reminds her of her home.
Now she knows where she wants ot be. Two days later Joanna and Bob take little Mary back to her mum Jane.
Bob says thanks to Joanna. And Joanna is happy to be home again.

A pet for Sally

Sally is twelve years old. She wants to have a dog.
But her dad says that a dog is too much work.
Sally sometimes looks after the dog and the cat of an old lady who lives next to her.
Sally has got two friends. Their names are Patrick and Janet.
In the Easter holidays Sally looks after Patrick’s hamster and in the summer holidays she looks after Jane’s guinea pigs.
When the holidays are over, Sally is alone again. She is sad.
One day she gets a parrot. Sally is happy, The parrot’s name is Polly.
Polly can talk. Polly can say "Good morning".
One day her father forgets to shut Polly’s cage. And he also leaves the door to the living room open.
When Sally come home from school, she sees that Polly is gone. She is very sad. She goes to her friend Jane and they both look for the parrot.
Suddenly they hear a noise. It comes from a dustbin. There is a little dog in it. Sally takes the dog home. She feeds the dog.
In the evening, when her father comes home, she shows hin the dog. And he likes the dog. So Sally can keep the dog.
A few days later, Polly comes back again.
Now Sally has got two pets – a dog and a parrot.

Who wants to be a star?

Tina Daniels is thirteen years old. She is a TV star.
Tina looks very pretty, but she is a sad girl. Tina is often angry with her mum and she is eating too many sweets. Her mum does not like it. “You get too fat!” she always says.
Tina does not want to be a star anymore. She wants to live a quiet life.
One day she visits Mrs. Whites, her friend’s grandmother. She lives on the island of Guernsey. Tina is wearing an old jumper. Nobody knows who she is.
Mrs. Whites is an old friendly lady. Tina is allowed to stay with Murs. Whites for a week.
One day the postman brings the newspaper.
There is a big headline: LOST TV-STAR!
But Tina does not care. She loves the country.
After the week Mrs White takes Tina home again. She has a good idea. She asks Tina’s mother if Tina could go to school at Guernsey.
Her mother agrees.
Now Tina lives on the island. She has lots of new friends and she likes the school. And nobody knows that she is a TV-star.
Who wants to be a star?
Tina doesn’t.

Our friends

Pam lives on a farm with her father and mother.
She likes to work on the farm after school. Peter and Jane are Pam’s friends. They often go to the farm to have tea there.
They see the horses, the cows and the pigs with their piglets.
Then the children walk round the farm. They come to the water and see the big fish and the small ones. Peter’s and Jane’s parents sometimes come by
car and they get eggs from Pam’s mother.
The children go to the sea where they meet their friend Tom. They are out at sea in their boat and Peter can fish. Tom talks about the sea, about boats and about fish and about his job. Then they go home. Mr and Mrs Green live next door to Jane and Peter and they have three children: Bob, Mary and Molly. Bob is Peter’s best friend and they often play together. Jane and Mary are good friends and they like playing with their dolls. The little girl Molly likes to play with the dog pet.
One day Peter and Jane visit their grandparents who live in an old house with a big garden.
Before they go to bed, Peter and Jane talk about how important it is to have good friends.

Kirsty's budgie

Kirsty's Granny has got a budgie. His name is Sid. Kirsty wants Sid to talk. She wants Sid to say his name, but Sid says nothing. He only says "lazy boy". One day Kirsty's granny says, “My budgie does not want to talk." Kirsty says to her granny,"Your budgie is a female budgie and femalebudgies don't usually talk much." But Sid likes to play with his toys.Sometimes he looks at himself in the mirror and says,"Lazy boy, lazy boy."Every evening Sid flies around in the room. sometimes Sid goes back to his cage on his own and sometimes Kirsty has to take him there. Sid likes to eat lettuce, dandelions and small seeds. Sid also likes a bath, because it helps to keep his feathers clean and shiny. At bedtime, Kirsty covers Sid's cage.Suddenly Sid says "Goodnight Sid". Then he puts his head under his wing.Kirsty is happy.

Simon and the Spy

Simon is at the station. He is going to a train. There are policemen at the station. In the newspaper Simon reads about a spy. Simon looks at the people at the station. He can see students, families, children and one man.He cannot see any spies. Simon runs to the train. There is an old woman. Simon sits down in the train. There is a super girl beside him. The old woman is in the train, too.Suddenly the women falls down.Simon sees that her shoe is not a woman’s shoe.The train stops. There are e policemen on the train. The cannot see the spy. Simon likes the girl. She likes him. The train stops. Simon and the girl go on a boat. It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and the water is blue. The girl’s name is Samantha.
The old woman is on the boat too. There are policeman on the boat. Simon opens his bag. There is a letter in it.The boat is going fast now. The wind is strong. The letter flies along the boat. Simon runs. He wants the letter back. The old woman runs too. She also wants the letter. Simon and the old woman run fast. They are a near paper now.
Simon can catch the letter.
There is a dog on the boat. The dog likes Simon and Samantha, but he doesn’t like the old woman. He takes her coat in his mouth and pulls it.The coat falls to the ground. Simon and Samantha look at the old woman. It is not an old woman! It is a man! It is the spy! Soon the policemen come. They arrest the spy.Simon is very happy.

Happy Holidays

Peter and Jane are going to have holiday with their auntie and uncle. They are going to have holiday without their parents. The children are at the house of their auntie and uncle. They have a dog. The next day they go to the sea with the dog. They in the sea and have great fun. Then the children see a lot of donkeys. They want to ride on the donkeys. The following day they make a boat trip and go to a café. They eat ice cream and drink tea. On the third day it is raining. Peter and Jane write letters to their friends at home. Every day the ice cream van comes down the road. One day they go to an toy shop. They buy a kite and in the afternoon they go out to fly it. The last day of their holiday they have a picnic. Uncle and Auntie give the children money to buy a present for their parents. The next morning mother comes to take the children back home. What a nice holiday it was !

Island for Sale

Duncan Mc Tavish and his dog Jack live in a castle on a Scottish island.
One Monday he gets a bill of $5000. He doesn’t have any money, and he can’t pay the electricity bill.
Duncan calls an agent in London. The agent sells houses to rich people.
The following afternoon Leaping Larry, a famous American pop star comes to look at the castle. He and his wife Roxana are arriving by helicopter.
They look at the castle but it is dark and very cold. There is no electricity, no food and no hot water in it. Roxana doesn’t like the castle.
So Leaping Larry doesn’t buy the island and the castle.
Duncan walks to the beach and there he sees a girl. The girl is painting a picture. She works in a school. The girl teaches painting to the children. Duncan and Jean talk for a long time. Jean looks at the castle.
She tells him that he can make a lot of money with the island. He can offer painting holidays to tourists. Duncan thinks this is a good idea. In summer lots of people to the island to paint there and Lana teaches them.
They marry and live a happy life. Lana is famous and Duncan is a rich man.
And he can pay all his bills.

The Champion

It is half past seven in the morning. It is a beautiful day.
Mother wakes Tim and tells him that it is time for school.
Tim opens his eyes and gets up. Then he has breakfast. Tim puts on a blue T-shirt, green jeans and red and white socks. He brushes his teeth and looks in the mirror. Tim can see his face in the mirror.
On the schoolbus there are a lot of children. His friend Paul has a new CD, its Title is "Fire and Clouds".
At school Tim makes windmills.
Later he and his friends go to the park with their kites. They are all flying their kites. Tim is not flying his kite. He is sitting in the grass because his kite has no wings.
The next day it is Tim’s birthday.
All his friends are at the birthday party in the garden.
On the table there are lots of presents. Tim opens the presents. Tim gets a book with all the answer to his favourite TV-show ” Super Quiz”.
Two months later, Tim’s is on the Super Quiz Show. He has got nine questions. He knows all the answer.
The last question is : “What's two million light years away from the earth?”
Tim says, "The Andromeda Nebula." The answer is correct.
So Tim is the new champion and the prize is a free trip to the fair for him and his friends.

Island for Sale

Duncan McTavish and his dog, Jok, live in a castle on a Scottish island at the west coast of Scotland.
Every day the postman comes to Duncan's castle. One day the postman brings him an electricity bill for 5.000 pounds.
But Duncan doesn't have the money to pay the bill. So he wants to sell his island.
A famous pop star called Leaping Larry comes to the island to have a look at the castle. He wants to buy it for his wife Roxanne, but his wife doesn't like the castle. So they go away and don't buy it. Duncan has got a problem. He hasn’t got any money.
One day he sees a woman on his island. She is painting. Her name is Jean.
She is teaching painting at a school. Duncan tells her about his problems. Jean has the idea to change the castle to a hotel and offer the visitors painting lessons. She wants to teach them. Duncan likes this idea. Some time later the castle is a hotel where tourists learn how to paint pictures.
Every year lots of tourists come to the the hotel. Duncan and Jean are married. They have two children and are both happy.

The last photo

Martin and his sister Pam are in Aberdeen,Scotland for one day.
Pam has a camera. She likes taking photos. It is evening and Pam wants to finish the film. So she takes a last photo of Martin.
Martin stands in front of a flowerbed. A man with a rucksack walks between Pam and Martin. So the last photo is a photo with Martin and a man on it. Pam is angry. Three days later Pam gets her photos. Martin knows the man. His photo was in the newspaper.
So he and Pam go to the police station. They show the policeman the photo. In the last photo the man is in front of Martin. "That s Alan Rook", says the policeman. "He is a bank robber. But we do not know where he is now."
"He is in Scotland", says Pam. The next day the police in Aberdeen find him in a tent. All the money from the bank is in his rucksack.
The next morning Pam and Martin’s story is in all the newspapers. The bank gives Pam and Martin a reward of a thousand pounds.
