Blue

Hi Superstars,
Here are your blue texts. They are really brilliant.
Great work !!!

It was six in the morning. Sandy got up and got dressed. She wore her blue jeans, her blue shoes, a blue T-shirt and a blue coat because her favourite colour was blue. At school her friends said, “Wow, what a great colour!” And Sally answered, “Yes, thank you. Blue is my favourite colour. All the children liked the colour. From that day on June 6th was called The-Blue-Colour-Day and since then all people have been wearing blue clothes. Andrea

In Australia there lived a bird. His name was Blue because he was a blue bird.
All the other birds were red and green. So nobody liked Blue. One day he flew away.

flock of birds came and said that the colour blue was great. All the birds in Papua Neuguinea liked Blue. Alexandra

Once upon a time I had an interesting dream. There was only the colour blue. The grass was blue, the streets were blue, the houses were blue, even the people were blue. Everything blue! In the zoo there were blue animals. But one thing was not blue. It was the water. That was really strange! I couldn't understand it. Suddenly I woke up. It was midnight. I got up, went into the kitchen and had a snack. Then I went to bed again and soon got fast asleep. When I woke up in the morning, everything was as usual. I was really happy! Michael

One day Franzi cycled around a blue lake on his blue bike. Then Albert came and threw the blue ball on Franzi´s head. Franzi fell down with his blue bike and landed in the blue lake. Franzi was very happy, went home and Albert played with his blue ball. Armin

Yesterday I met a nice blue boy. I talked to him. He said that he lived on a blue cloud. The boy said to me," Come with me. I will show you my my cloud. "Yes", I said happily. I was really nervous. Suddenly the boy was unusually quiet. Two hours later we came to the blue cloud. The blue cloud was beautiful. There were lots of people. When we arrived, they said to the blue boy, "Hello Blue, you are the best man and your colours are so beautiful." Suddenly I woke up. It had only been a dream. Sandra

Once upon a time there lived a tuna swarm in the blue Atlantic Ocean.
It was a very dangerous area. There were many hungry sharks and other dangerous fish. The boss of the tuna swarm was a big and tall fish.
He was the strongest of the swarm. But one day a shark came. The big shark ate the boss of the swarm. All others in the swarm were very sad and swam farther south. They were sad for many months. But one day the smallest tuna said, "We need a new boss. Let's find one." So they had a swimming race and the smallest tuna won. He was the boss now. Niki

In the jungle there live lots of animals.
And all the tigers, lions, snakes, spiders, monkeys and crocodiles are blue.
But one little bird is red.
He can never play with the other baby animals, because they are all blue and they don't like red animals.
Suddenly the little red bird has an idea. He takes some blue colour, mixes it with water and takes a swim in it.
When he comes out of it, he is blue. He goes to the other blue animals and plays with them. The little blue monkey has an idea
"We can go swimming", he said.
'The bird jumps into the water.
Now the bird is red again.
When the other animals jump into the water, they suddenly all get red.
They had only been painted blue.

Easter

Easter is an important festival for the Christians. The week before Easter is called the Holy Week (Karwoche).
Palm Sunday is the first day of the Holy Week and celebrates Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem riding on a donkey (Esel).
On Maunday Thursday (Gründonnerstag).
Christians remember when Jesus ate the Last Supper (Letztes Abendmahl) with his disciples (Apostel), breaking bread and drinking wine.

On Good Friday (Karfreitag), many churches hold services (Hl. Messe) thinking of Christ’s death.

Easter Sunday marks Jesus’ resurrection (Auferstehung).

For Christians, Easter eggs symbolise new life.
Easter is named after the Anglo-Saxon goddess (Göttin) of dawn (Tagesanbruch) and spring (Frühling). It falls on a Sunday between 22 March and 25 April. It is a time of fun and celebration because it is the end of winter and the end of Lent (Fastenzeit).

Children in Austria and Germany believe in the Easter Bunny.
They say it delivers (verteilen) eggs and sweets. Children have easter egg hunts (Jagd/Suche) in the garden.

Happy Easter

His name was Melric.
He cooked meals, repaired things, painted the castle and worked in the garden.
He also helped other people.
Because he got up late.
Nothing happened.
The King was angry because Melric was late.
Most things went wrong.
He wanted to see Kra, his old teacher.
He had to walk.
He lived in a cave.
He was hot and tired.
Because he did everything for the people and they were helpless.
Yes, he did. But he told him not to waste it.
He saw enemy soldiers.
He changed the enemy soldiers into cats.
The castle dogs ran after the cats, and the cats ran away.
He told them, “You must do your work without magic. I must not wast it.”
He had to learn how to make his bed.

Donald

Superstars, I love your stories !
Great, creative writing ! I am proud of you all.
Enjoy your weekend !

This is the beginning of a story:

In an old castle in the north of England, there lived a ghost.
His name was Donald. Donald was very good at frightening people.
Every night at midnight he did the same things. First he walked round the castle. Then he went to the hotel in town and frightened the tourists and their children. Then he went back to the castle. But one night, something happened. When Donald came out of the castle, he saw . . .

These are your endings:

.....his old friend Archibald.
Suddenly Donald's surrounding changed. They were in a prison now."What are we doing here?", Donald asked.
"Your time is over, Donald. You were a good ghost, but now you have to go,” Archibald answered.
Donald asked,”What are you talking about? What are you doing here? I thought you would be hanging on a chain for another 230 years!"
Archibald didn't say a word, he just took a letter out of his long black hair and gave it to Donald.
Donald shouted when he opened the letter.
The letter said: Donald, just because of you, Archibald put the ring on Dee's finger. You told him that he should do so. Now you have to be hanging on a chain for another 230 years.
Suddenly Archibald took one of the chains which were hanging behind him, and hanged Donald on it.
"No, please don't do this to me, Archibald! I have always been your friend,” Donald shouted.
But it was too late, Archibald was gone.

Albert

. . . no tourists and no children.
"Where are they today?" he thought.
He looked at the hotel, but there were nobody. It was very quiet round the it. D
onald was scared and went back to the castle.
Suddenly there were a lot of ghosts in front of the castle.
Donald ran away as fast as he could. The ghosts started laughing. He could not frighten tourists and children anymore.

Sandra

. . . all his friends with party hats on their heads.
Donald was very surprised and asked his best friend Joe,"What is this?"
Joe answered," Surprise, surprise! It's your birthday party!"
250 years is a beautiful age.
Donald was very happy an celebrated with all his friends all night long.

Niki

. . . a large box. He tried to open it but he could not.
Donald got very angry about his failure and banged on it.
Suddenly it opened and in the large box was another small box. The ghost tried to open it and after some time the box was finally open.
In the box there was a slip of paper. It read:

Hello Donald,

I am writting you this letter because I miss you so much!

Yours,
granny

Donald was really happy and was smiling all day long.

Julia

.
. . another ghost.
Donald was afraid of this ghost.
Suddenly the big ghost said hello to Donald. Now Donald realised that it was a lady ghost.
"My name is Amalia", the ghost said. Donald thought she was really pretty. And Amalia also liked Donald. Finally Amalia was Donald's girlfriend and Donald was so happy.
Amalia and Donald went to the village to frighten people and had a lot of fun.
Two years later Amalia got three baby ghosts.
Donald was very and proud because he had a family.

Bernhard

. . . lots of other ghosts. One of the ghosts was drinking tomato juice. Another ghost was reading a book and the third ghost was listening to music. They had come to the castle to have a party. Donald had invited them to a party.
After some time they decided to go to the hotels in the town and frighten the tourists and their children.
They had a lot of fun together. From now on the ghosts came to the castle every night.

Philipp

. . . a little baby boy sitting on the floor. Donald looked at him and wanted to frighten him.
So he went to the baby and screamed:" Awwwuuuahhh!". The child looked at Donald and began to laugh. The baby was not afraid. He wanted to play with the ghost.
But ghosts do not play with babies. The little baby boy tried to touch Donald but there was nothing. You cannot touch ghosts.
The baby was scared and started crying.
Donald knew that he had to take the baby back to their parents in the hotel.
So he grabbed the child and went to the hotel in town.
Donald put him on the doorsteps and knocked at the door. But before the door was opened he went back to the castle.
He felt happy.

Chiara

. . . many people and children.
The following midnight wanted to frighten them.
So Donald switched off the lights, opened and closed windows, rang the bell and cried huhuhu.
The children were scared and ran to their parents.
The people took their suitcases and went to the airport. They went home to Austria by plane.
Donald said to himself, "This was the best night ever - it's wonderful to frighten people."

Sebastian

. . . .. his parents. They wanted to see that their son was a real ghost. Donald was extremely surprised and nervous. He walked round the castle with his parents. They saw a young girl. Donald wanted to frighten the girl but he couldn't. He was too nervous. The second chance he got at the hotel. There they saw a little baby. Normally it was an easy "exercise" for Donald, but he was not able to frighten the baby. His parents were angry because their son couldn't even frighten a baby. They said to him, "In one year we will be back and then you will have to be able to frighten people." The following year Donald was hardly nervous anymore and frightened all the people in the hotel. His parents were happy and Donald was proud.

Michael

. . . many other ghosts.
The ghosts' heads came to him and said,"You have to go to an other castle in Greece."
But Donald didn't want to go to Greece.
Two ghosts went away to give Donald his belongings.
A third ghost gave him a suitcase. Donald was sad, took his things and decided to go. But he was grumpy.
He went to Greece by train. After a while he found the castle. In the castle there lived another ghost.
The ghost was a woman. Her name was Caroline. They fell in love and lived happilly forever.
And Donald was happy that he had gone to Greece.

Monika

. . . a ring. It was a wonderful golden ring. He wanted to put the ring on his finger. Suddenly an old ghost came. He said to Donald," You must bring me a golden key." It is in a castle in the east of England."
The next day Donald flew to the castle.
After a long search he found the golden key. Then he flew back to the castle in the north of England.
He put the golden ring on his finger and the old ghost came. Donald gave him the golden key. Then the old ghost flew away, but Donald had made a big mistake.
He had to hang on a chain for 150 years.

Mihriban

. . . a policeman. The police man said, "Are you a ghost and are you frightenning tourists and their children?"
Donald was confuesd and said, "Yes I am." "Come with me," said thepolice man firmly. Donald asked, "Why?" The policeman answered, "You always frighten the tourists and their children! That is not allowed!" "But it is my hobby", Donald shouted and flew away.
Nobody ever could find Donald.
He still frightens the tourists. And the police can't do anything about it.

Daniela

. . . another ghost.
He was really big, had three green eyes, a big nose and shabby grey hair.
Donald was shocked about the awful ghost. Immediately he ran into the cellar.
He was so sceard, that he never came out of the cellar again.
The cellar in the old castle in the north of England is a place of peace for Donald. And he is still there.
Visit Donald in your holidays and you can see him.

Anna F.

...that there were many tourists in front of the castle. Suddenly all tourists took their cameras and took a photo of Donald.
Donald was very angry. He wanted to frighten the tourists. But they were not afraid of the ghost.
Three hours later the ghost went back to the castle. He was very tired.
Every night the tourists were in front of the castle.
So Donald couldn´t go out of the castle any more.

Stefanie

. . . nobody.
He wanted to go to a hotel and frighten the people that were there. He went back to the castle and was surprised that nobody was in the village.
Suddenly the telephone rang. It was the mayor. He told Donald to come to his office because he wanted to talk to Donald.
The next evening Donald went to the mayor. Donald rang the doorbell. A servant came out and took Donald to the mayor.
The mayor asked Donald why he had frightened all the tourists in the village. Donald told the mayor that he liked frightening twelve year-old-children.
Every night he went to their hotels and woke them up. Their parents woke up too.
But a rule for ghosts is: You must not frighten twelve–year-old girls and boys.
So the children played a trick on Donald. They hid in the cellars at midnight. When Donald came, nobody was there.
"I’m so silly. That was a big mistake", Donald told the mayor. "Now I’m not a real ghost. I’ve no job. I dream of children every day and I cannot sleep."
If a ghost does that, he must hang on a chain for 150 years.
So the mayor put Donald in his friend’s cellar. Archibald was there too. And they could talk, talk, talk ........ about Dee.

Franzi

. . . a ghost. The ghost was a beautiful ghost woman.
Her name was Dee.
She had beautiful long, black hair and her eyes were wonderfully blue.
Donald and Dee were really happy and they fell in love.
Two years later Donald and Dee got married.
It was a wonderful wedding. All their friends and their family were there.
As a present they got a bigger castle.
Donald and Dee wanted to have children got ten little ghost babies.

…..an old treasure box. He opened it. There were lots of clothes in it. Donald looked at the wonderful dresses, the golden trousers and the silver jacket. He was happy, because he could go to the town with the new clothes.
Donald put the trousers and the jacket on.
He flew to the town. There were lots of people. He showed the other people with his wonderful cloths. But the people didn’t notice the ghost. Donald was very sad and disappointed.
He started crying loudly. Suddenly the people noticed him. A little girl came to the ghost and comforted him. And soon he felt better. With a smiling face he flew back to his castle.

Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day

In the UK, Shrove Tuesday is also known as Pancake Day because it is the one day of the year when almost everyone eats a pancake.

The three last days before the beginning of Lent (Fastenzeit) is known als Shrovestide.
Shrove Sunday (Faschingssonntag) is the fiftieth day before Easter. Collop Monday (Rosenmontag) is named after a traditional dish (Mahlzeit) of the day.
Pancake Day/Shrove Tuesday (Faschingsdienstag) is the day on which all fat and cream (Fett und Sahne)had to be used up (aufgebraucht).

The name shrove comes from the old word shrive which means to confess (gestehen, beichten)
On Shrove Tuesday, in the Middle Ages people confessed their sins (Sünden) so that they were forgiven before the season of Lent began (Fastenzeit).

What is a pancake?

A pancake is a thin, flat (flach) cake, made of batter (Palatschinkenteig) and fried in a pan. Castersugar (Staubzucker) is sprinkled over the top and a dash (Spritzer) of fresh lemon juice added (hinzugefügt). The pancake is then rolled.

What happens on Shrove Tuesday?
There are pancake races all over the UK. You have to run and get to the finishing line (Ziellinie) first while flipping a pancake in a frying pan (Bratpfanne).

Interesting fact:
The world biggest pancake was cooked in Rochdale, near Manchester.
It was fifteen metres in diameter (Durchmesser), weighed (wog) three tons and had two million calories.

Other names for Shrove Tuesday:

Apocreas - Greece
The word means "from the meat"
Fattisdagen (Fat Tuesday) - Sweden
Mardi Gras - France
Mardi Gras means grease (Fett) or Fat Tuesday Fasnacht, Fasching - Germany

Song: Too late to apologize - Timbaland featuring Republic

I'm holding on your rope,
Got me ten feet off the ground
I'm hearin what you say but I just can't make a sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait
You tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around, and say...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

I'd take another chance, take a fall
Take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
But it's nothin new
I loved you with a fire red-
Now it's turning blue, and you say...
"Sorry" like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I'm afraid...

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late

Bridge (guitar/piano)

It's too late to apologize, it's too late
I said it's too late to apologize, it's too late
It's too late to apologize, yeah
I said it's too late to apologize, yeah-
I'm holdin on your rope, got me ten feet off the ground...

Song: Upside down/Shawn the sheep

The hitch-hiker -Key

It WAS a dark and rainy evening.
Mr Soames WAS on his way home.
Suddenly he SAW a girl.
He STOPPED his car.
He TOOK the girl home.
He DROVE to the house.
A woman SAID,
“My daughter DIED five years ago.”
Mr Soames WAS confused.
He WENT to his car.
The car WAS empty and the girl WAS gone.

Who's to say
What's impossible
Well, they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There's no stopping curiosity

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
I don't want this feeling to go away

Who's to say
I can't do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren't always just what they seem

I want to turn the whole thing upside down
I'll find the things they say just can't be found
I'll share this love I find with everyone
We'll sing and dance to Mother Nature's songs
This world keeps spinning and there's no time to waste
Well it all keeps spinning spinning round and round and

Upside down
Who's to say what's impossible and can't be found
